The news begins NOW, KBCO, Social Media Boulder

The News begins “Now”
By JannScott Posted in My Life in Boulder

Dear Internet,

We are starting a daily newscast on Boulder Channel 1 today. It will be sent to social media and we shall see. Our new news person Natalie Wood will be out and about the city every day covering local stories. But the mainstay of our news centers around stories that local and national news rarely cover: Science, technology, medicine, famine, environment, economy, education, human culture. Add to that local stories we deem important. We have a policy of non-violence reporting, including wars, car accidents, murders, fires, politics and the like.

Over the past ten years Boulder Channel 1 news has been distributed world wide with the adage “We bring you Boulder, we bring you the world.” Our viewer ship is an online audience, not traditional TV. So what does that mean? Well, viewers online are younger… 18-34 are 80 %. 35 to 90 is everyone else, including most readers of My Life in Boulder.

I personally feel a disconnect to the Twitter Facebook Billions of “kids under 30, but I suppose that doesn’t matter. My friend Bob Greenlee ran KBCO for years. Bob is a conservative Republican. KBCO is a bastion of liberal music and enormously sucessful. Richard Ray who hosted mornings on KBCO helped me when I first started in talk radio in the late 1980′s. He used to say, radio is all about perception. “What you perceive it to be” is what makes a radio station a success. It is all an illusion. Same is true with TV and social media, and our news.

Quite frankly, I am sick of the news and had all of my cable news disconnected. The only TV news i watch is NBC, CBS, ABC overnight news between 3:00 am and 5:00 am. I also watch BBC TV news and C-Span. But that is it.

Boulder City Council GUILTY civil rights violation $10,000.

Throw the bums out. Restore the constitution in Boulder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

from Americas most famous small cityJann Scott Boulder ColoradoCity Zip…… Captain Underpants $10,000.00………..oooops
Dear Internet,
You know the story. I have been writing about here for 5 years. The city council in Boulder tried to suspend the 1st amendment of the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES. Today the lost round one to a bunch of miscreants; terrorists; free speechers, Public Access Television activists in round one.

When White House Staffer Shaun McGrath, Exxon Valdez attorney Macon Cowels, Attorney Susie Ageston, CU professor Ken Wilson, city employee Angelique Espinoza, County employee Robin Bohannan, Recycling chief Mark Ruzzin, businessman Andy Schultiz went after Seth Brigham and public access TV, we told them we would being the fight right into city council chambers, suit them, win and make their lives a living hell. That was 2005, 2006 and 2007. Today the above named bums lost big and their names will be forever tarnished with civil rights violations as public servants from Boulder Colorado. Plus we have driven them crazy to the point they have created a police state in Boulder. A police state!!!!

Turn public access television channel 54 back on now or get ready for more. The flood gates are open now!
Congratulations Seth and David Lane. I look for more civil disobedience at City council to be broadcast on channel 8.
How dumb can they be. ??

Barack O'bama needs $10 #boulder

show details 9:52 AM (19 hours ago)

Jann --

When Michelle and I decided that I would run for President, it was because of a shared belief in the power of community and connection, a commitment to the idea that we are our brothers' keepers.

With your help, that is how I have tried to govern.

Now -- with just 50 days until the November elections -- the progress we have achieved together is under attack.

But I have seen what you can do when the stakes are high, and I have never been more confident in your ability to deliver.

Jann, I am asking you to take the next step in your support for Organizing for America.

Because this moment is so critical, another supporter has pledged to match any donation you make right now. A $5 donation will become $10.

Will you make a donation today and answer your fellow supporter's pledge to match whatever you can give?

Here's how it works:

-- You choose the amount you are able to give -- and it will be doubled by someone willing to match that amount.

-- You will be able to write a note to the person who matched your donation and let them know why you decided to own a piece of this movement.

There are a lot of people out there who do not believe we can continue this work.

But we've defied the naysayers before. It was supporters like you who stood up and said, I can call my neighbor and ask her to vote. I can write a letter to my member of Congress. I can volunteer a few hours to go door to door -- even after a hard day at work.

It was this commitment that ensured millions of Americans will no longer suffer the indignity of inadequate care, simply because an illness came too soon, or a procedure too late.

It was this commitment that allowed us to pass the toughest financial reform regulations since the Great Depression.

And it is with this commitment in mind that I have gone to work every day. Over the coming months, I will continue to fight for what is right and for what is necessary -- but I cannot do this alone.

Republicans have made it clear what they will do if elected this fall -- attempt to repeal our historic achievements and obstruct progress on the work that lies ahead.

But if we remember what we can build together, we can continue moving America forward.

Today, it starts with you. Your matched donation this month will enable us to execute the largest, most ambitious plan our party has ever run in an election of this kind. It will fund our Vote 2010 efforts in all 50 states. And it will help us stand up to the special interests trying to take over Congress.

It can shake up this fall's elections.

We built this movement with support from people like you, with small donations from millions of donors. And that was a conscious choice -- a choice that required us to demand more of our friends, our neighbors, and ourselves.

A fellow grassroots supporter is asking you to join them today -- and has pledged to match your individual donation.

Please donate $5 or more to help grow this movement in the critical weeks ahead:

Thank you,

President Barack Obama

Twitter : the creeped out side: censorship; leftist hatred during the boulder fire

All of the twitter people are praising themselves over this social media involvement with spreading information on the boulder fire at four mile canyon. At first I experienced much of the same. And then it changed. I witnessed a violent pack mentality that took place. I have seen this before with young angry pot smoking leftists who practice censorship and intolerance at their core.

This is a very dangerous way of being. Some of the e-mails I got were personal attacks on me and my company. When I responded they projected all of their hate on to me.

What worries me about the Twitter movement is that the company has a policy of wanting to effect political power world wide. This is also true with Facebook. I mean, they have stated it in so many words. These two companies are run by 26 year olds who have a "one world view" as do many of the users of both. They happen to be educated, white, and leftist and want to control the world. Kind of a new fascism.

Quite frankly, their are some real shit heads on Twitter from Boulder. If you check @jannscott you'll find three very nasty kids....two girls and a guy.... who personify hate, control, revenge.

I ran into a former Sheriffs department deputy and his friends who target people they don't like. In some ways twitter is about bullying, targeting and harassment. Another person wrote about this very same topic a few days ago while reading #boulderfire and watching the hate build.

I plan on doing some TV shows on this and addressing the people who pulled this crap and calling them out on Mass Media....... When movements like this move from business to politics to taking over the world that's where I step in and say something.

the 1000's pf people who sit on twitter all day, with nothing to do is .......well they are like a bunch of old ladies gossiping quite frankly.

Boulder Channel 1's Coverage of the Boulder Fire

from Americas most famous small cityJann Scott Boulder Colorado

#boulderfire Boulder Channel 1 used Twitter to Evac Fourmile Canyon fire peeps

Everyone
Well, I just wanted to let everyone know.

When the fire broke out I was hiking up there and got run off the mountain by smoke, ash, embers etc.

then went to work.......... news editor ron baird was llready at it posting news when i arrived at our BC1 office.....
. at 12:30, turned on the scanner...started monitoring Red 1, Green, Blue, Fire and AIR.
Where my house is located we get perfect reception for all. If you go to http://c1n.tv/boulder/blog/ you can see all of the early stories.

Boulder channel 1 broke the following news:

reverse 911 failure...... so I called command...dispatch, city pio and came up with a plan to use social media via Boulder Channel 1 to get word out to foot hill homes to evacuate , that reverse 911 was down.

we started posting Boulder channel 1 news headlines on Twitter immediately and that spread to the top tweet for #boulderfire.( and it still is).... I then started getting phone calls and emails from citizens who were stranded on Sunshine canyon and Sugar loaf....

..... "we didn't receive a reverse 911" and 911 is busy so I'm calling you.
I know, it failed, get out now." What?.... get in your car and leave"

Next call: I'm on sunshine, but i can't see.... should we evacuate.( saw our tweet on mobile device)
Green Channel: Sheriff deputy to Command:" The fire has crossed the road in two place on sunshine......Tell people not to drive down above poor man".
my text Shit! don't drive down... fire.

Text message: my brother is missing. 911 busy. Evacuate sugarloaf??
me: yes, try to get out...

And so it went all afternoon and into the night.\

we also broke the story on the car propane tank.
911 failure
sm to fourmile residents evacuate
200 homes burned

Our sources gave us everything.....and being an expert newroom scanner listener......the horror of it all unfolded....it was a Holy shit moment
.
then...We had CNN, NYT and other media giving us sources and leads in order to move information......since they saw we were breaking every new story..
Meanwhile we are writing furiously.....pounding out story after story As the Scanner provided real time information
Our tweets on Twitter exploded till we were the most retweeted and viewed source in the world
plus Boulder channel 1 News far surpassed every news agency in the world.
after 4:00 everybody and their brother was on twitter. But when we started.........we were the first. first to tweet, first in news..first to react.
by 4 everyone was evacuated...........twitter wnt down......and we did our job.

we did get one story wrong..... fatality.......which we had confirmed by two sources...so we apologized for that. ( this one still may unfortunately come true in days, weeks or months to come.) Some of my headline were a bit over the top...but i wnate d people who didn't realize to get the hell out.

I did take some heat for reporting ..from some twitter kids..who were in shock that we had moved in and took over their play ground for some serious business........but we knew we had it right and lives were at stake.
the time period i am talking about is between 12:30 and 4pm
we also had the only offical interview on the cause of fire by noon.

we went Live on tuesday from the Target parking lot. Allison did 3 hours Donna did two hours, to pass out crucial information and then picked up a WW audience on TV.
We internet cast a few early press conferences. too

Tomorrow we will broadcast some of the relief efforts on boulder channel 1 , com

deep breath
